Hong Kong. Press mogul Jimmy Lai, one of the leading figures in the Hong Kong pro-democracy movement, was arrested on Monday in the former British colony under the new national security law, an associate of his and a police source announced.

“Jimmy Lai is being detained right now for collusion with foreign powers,” tweeted Mark Simon, one of his contributors. A police source told AFP that Lai had been arrested for collusion with foreign forces, one of the new prohibitions contained in the national security law, and for fraud.
