HEALTH-CORONAVIRUS-YOUNG PEOPLE: Coronavirus: The number of infected young people triples in five months
(Reuters) – Young people gathering in nightclubs or on beaches are causing new coronavirus infections to rise around the world, with the number of infections among 15-24 year olds tripling in five months, said on Tuesday World Health Organization (WHO).
A WHO study of 6 million infections between February 24 and July 12 found that the proportion of people between the ages of 15 and 24 fell from 4.5% to 15%.
Besides the United States, which leads the world with 4.8 million cases in total, European countries like Spain, Germany and France, and Asian countries like Japan, have found that ‘many of those recently infected were young people.
This new wave of contamination is pushing some countries to impose new restrictions on travelers.
