There is no doubt that our reality was reached by science fiction stories that posed a bleak panorama regarding the destiny of humanity, we recently saw it with Dark and his travels through space-time, right now it was the turn of The Rain, another Netflix original production that has found its dramatic end in season 3, of which we have told you the good and the bad so that you know perfectly what you can find in this latest installment.
This time we will focus on analyzing the details that resolved the plot written by Jannik Tai Mosholt, Christian Potalivo and Esben Toft Jacobsen, since The series does not end with a specific happy ending, but with a hopeful one on which the world will still depend mainly on Simone (Alba August), Patrick (Lukas Løkken), Jean (Sonny Lindberg), Or (Natalie Madueño) y Kira (House Ahmad).
LA FLOR – THE RAIN
It is clear to us that Apollon devoted all their resources to creating an unstoppable virus, however, they neglected its counterproductive effects and this prevented them from developing a virus. As time passed, Rasmus (Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen) Being patient zero, he managed to develop a series of mutations that even gave him powers and at the same time in the most dangerous being on the planet.
And to everyone’s surprise, nature itself was in charge of developing the weapon that could stop the virus created in a laboratory and this emerged in the form of a colorful plant that grew hidden and protected by Daniel’s family (Rex Leonard) and Moon (Cecilia Loffredo). With a simple drop of the substance created by this plant, the virus could be exterminated with instant effects, a fact that led Simone to consider it the definitive cure for Rasmus.
RASMUS MADNESS FOR A NEW WORLD – THE RAIN
Despite losing his life to Rasmus, Sten (Johannes Kuhnke) was in charge of inserting into the mind of the young mutant a vision that saw the virus as the very salvation of humanity, the objective: contaminate the survivors and in this way no one could die because they would already have the virus inside them. However, nothing is forever and Rasmus’s mental stability began to deteriorate at the same time as his powers turned against him and made him sick by the minute.
With this in mind and upon learning that Simone maintained his plans to reverse what, in theory, he represented as a carrier of the virus, he chose to wage war on him and vow to murder his own sister to keep their offspring alive. This is how history now poses a kind of final battle for the fate of the planet, even if this means that only a few will be able to live.
ENFRENTAMIENTO FINAL – THE RAIN
Rasmus took the soldiers he managed to create by transferring his virus to them, this gave them powers similar to those of the first carrier, the same effect that we saw at the end of the second season with Sarah (Clara Rosager). On the other side, the only ones willing to continue defending the planet as we know it, in addition to have the secret weapon: the plant that produces the cure and that was also discovered feeds on the virus itself.
Of course, when mentioning the final confrontation, we clearly refer to the reunion between Simone and Rasmus, who held different views on the fate of the world. And after a simple plan that sought to set a trap for Rasmus (which did not pay off), finally the brothers were face to face ready to give their last breath to stop each other.
However, Rasmus was not able to kill his own sister, who took care of him after the departure of his father and the tragic death of his mother, he also managed to see reason about the virus and knew that the only way to stop the massive contagion it would be to surrender and give your own life. But he was never alone since Sarah appeared in the final moment and confessed how important he was, so together they decided to deliver all the virus that kept them alive to the powerful plant and thus sacrifice themselves for the good of the planet..

A NEW BEGINNING – THE RAIN
The act of Rasmus and Sarah was so powerful that there was a great explosion capable of annihilating all the carriers of the virus that were in the round, this meant that the origin had been stopped and there will be no further expansion. In the last moments of the series we can see abandoned and lonely cities as a symptom of the near extinction of the human race.
But the end is hopeful as Simone managed to save a small sprout of the plant capable of generating the cure formula, even carrying it in a small glass jar while it continues to grow. This is how they will wait for the right moment to plant it again in the ground and with the passage of time distribute the cure to the whole world, in this way they can create a new beginning.
In this way all the sacrifices had a hopeful cause, like that of little Lea (Jessica Dinnage), who faced the powerful attack of Rasmus to save Simone. We can even remember Martin (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), who after allowing himself to be infected, preferred to take the cure even though this meant dying instantly instead of hurting the love of his life. A series of deaths that found redemption with a new destiny for humanity.
