Yes, we are in the midst of a pandemic that has reached practically every corner of our planet, the one from Covid-19; yet we shouldn’t avoid traveling. If anything, it is appropriate to do it with caution. The places that today have more infections are to be avoided, but at the same time we can book to go to the safest ones, in the cities where there are very few cases of infection, or even zero.
It may sound strange today that the total cases of new coronavirus infection approach the total thirty million (yes, that’s right) but there are many safe places where the virus is under control. Of course, it cannot be said that this is the case in Brazil, India or the USA, but in many other areas of the world we can go without worrying (even if it is always the case to use the mask and respect social distancing). Here is a list of the safest cities, with fewer infections, fewer active cases and the situation under control.
In Macau, the small Asian city-state where a European language is still spoken (Portuguese, due to the colonial era), there are zero active cases. It is a place with strict rules and which has managed much better than others to contain the infection. But Macau is also an exceptional place for culture, entertainment and traditions: the Chinese, Taiwanese and European cultural mix has always made it an Asian gateway to multiculturalism. For some time it was the place par excellence for those who love betting and gambling, but today it is an exceptional commercial and tourist center.
Phnom Penh, Cambogia
Cambodia is one of those states where the contagion has been managed and controlled in the best way. Its capital, Phnom Penh, is one of the most beautiful in all of Asia and is absolutely worth seeing during this period. Because? There are many reasons, the virus not very dangerous, the large spaces, the countryside and the woods where social distancing is guaranteed and then the tourists, who are very few today and this guarantees us to be able to take advantage of a genuine and sincere city.
Here we are, finally, close to our home: in Munich. There have been infections here, but at the moment it is one of the safest cities to travel to: only 53 active cases and all under control. The city is famous all over the world for luxury tourism and splendid views, from Italy you can get there in an instant (by car, from Genoa, it takes just over two hours).
Many call it the “capital of Europe”, even if officially it is only Germany: it is one of the most interesting cities in the world for art, music, cinema and nightlife but it is also one of the economic poles largest in Europe.
Visiting Berlin is always a great idea, considering how much the city offers tourists from all points of view: but now, with Germany confirming itself as one of the best organized states in the world to manage the pandemic, Berlin is not only interesting, it is also safe.
On closer inspection in Asia, where the pandemic was born and spread at the beginning of this unfortunate 2020, many cities are already in the third or fourth wave and have now managed the infections born in recent months very well. Laos, the Fiji Islands, Cambodia and China itself have various cities where infections are now few and under control. But for those traveling from Italy, the best advice not to go too far is northern Europe: Greenland and Iceland have very few cases and both islands are applying very effective systems to control new infections. So, here, another excellent tip is to go to Reykjavik: the Icelandic capital is splendid, especially now that summer is ending, it shows unimaginable lights and glimpses of green for those who have never been there at least once.
But also the capital of Greenland, Nuuk, is a wonderful place to travel: the cold is already bitter, it is true, but the nature is wonderful and in Greenland the possibility of contracting the virus is very low. For now, there have been only 14 cases of contagion in all of Greenland and no new cases have been recorded for weeks. Not to mention that there was no death.
