Dolce & Gabbana looks to the past to tell us about the future in its new collection

The collection Spring Summer 2021 from the Italian firm Dolce & Gabbana It is the clear example of the references that we keep present in our culture and, of course, in current fashion.

Our cultural heritage as Latinos not only comes from pre-Columbian times, but has also taken great European references that directly influenced America with colonization, this is a great tribute to the history of Italian fashion.

A nod to the nineties? It is a resounding yes, even its inspiration.

Here we present the most relevant elements of this proposal from the Italian fashion house that looks to the past to talk about the future.

Sicily, the starting point

A collection loaded with infinite references and elements that are mainly inspired by Sicily. Each proposal of the firm lets us see the multiple cultures that dominated the region for centuries: French, Arabs, Normans, Spanish and Arabs, among many others, were part of this great influence.

Whoever said that fashion was a superficial subject undoubtedly created this stigma from an unreflective point of view, and this collection is physical proof of how profound a creative fashion proposition can go.

Titled Patchwork of Sicily, the latest collection of designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, puts his name aloft by the literal and physical references of the scraps or, English, the patchwork. In a single garment, we are able to perceive the cultural richness of a region; different patterns and materials that converge in one piece.

It is not surprising that looks remind us of the style of the women of Syracuse, Catania, Palermo and Agrigento, in addition, this collection pays tribute to the legacy of handwork so that these types of traditions are passed from generation to generation.

Another of the inspirations of the Italians was the collection they presented in 1993, starring models such as Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Carla Bruni, Helena Christensen, Linda Evangelista and Marpessa Hennink.

For the designersSeeing their old collection motivated them to reinterpret the silhouettes of that time to create a new vision.

The unmissable codes

Constant elements maintain the identity of this collection and position it as one of our favorites.

This identity is clearly reflected in dresses, sartorial outfits, summer jackets, men’s shirts with cuts oversize, mini shorts and mini skirts that integrate with ease and naturalness to the favorite pieces of our wardrobe.

The keys that make these pieces extremely special? Without a doubt, the materials used: silk, chiffon, brocade, denim, lace, poplin and the so-called fabric georgette which has a texture very similar to that of silk.

Where should you focus your attention?

For lovers of fashion icons and it bags with romantic cuts, one of the most relevant focal points is undoubtedly the maxi bag Devotion, which will be a key piece of the season Spring Summer 2021.

Accessories such as shoes and bags are, like every season, important as are other garments such as boyfriend shirt oversize or the classic t-shirt blanca.
