The singer recently confided in Brut about his grandfather suffering from Alzheimer’s disease when he was still a child.
It’s up to the media Brut that Matt Pokora told how he had to cope, from his childhood, with Alzheimer’s disease that struck his grandfather. “When I learned about Alzheimer’s from my grandfather, I must have been maybe nine or ten “, he had said. “At that moment, I don’t realize the devastation that Alzheimer’s can make, I tell myself that he will just forget certain things, etc. And in fact, over the years, growing up, I see that we takes his car away from him, I see it’s not just words that he forgets, where he put his keys in. He starts to forget people, first names, which he did five minutes ago. Then after that it gets worse and there are moments of dementia. It’s hard for those around … “
In 2019, Christina Milian’s darling had given the reply to Muriel Robin in a TV movie broadcast on TF1, entitled The first forgotten and adapted from the book of the same name by Cyril Massarotto on Alzheimer’s disease and the impact of the disease on families.
“When you’re fourteen and your grandfather sees you … I remember coming out of the room and crying”, he recalled with emotion. “We are not trained to manage someone who has dementia, who in the early stages of this disease is not taken care of in an establishment”, he continued before indicating that he ended up being placed in a center. “To see my grandfather like that, on an armchair, staring into space, with slime … I did that once and I said, ‘I’m sorry, I couldn’t see it like that. ”And then a few months later he was gone”.
