Meanwhile, the Minister of Regional Affairs, Francesco Boccia, has stated that the extension of the state of emergency is “inevitable”. “There should be no debate. We will have to take it to Parliament, but the extension seems inevitable to me ”, he stated in an interview with ‘La Stampa’.
The state of emergency was declared at the end of January and in July it was renewed until October 15. This figure is widely used in Italy in the event of catastrophes such as earthquakes and allows the authorities to act more quickly without going through Parliament. Thus the Government of Giuseppe Conte imposed the confinement without having to debate it in Parliament.
