The head of the Italian government Giuseppe Conte received shortly before noon the President of the Confederation Simonetta Sommaruga in Rome. He stressed his desire to quickly put under roof an agreement on the imposition of border workers.
Mr. Conte underlined the “valuable contribution” of Italian border workers to the Ticinese health system. The coronavirus crisis has underlined the importance of this contribution for Switzerland, he said, quoted by the Ansa agency.
The head of the Italian government and Ms Sommaruga both expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the agreement. Mr. Conte wishes to have an agreement “as quickly as possible”, it is in the interest of the two countries. He said he hoped that this text could be concluded before the end of the year.
The deal was negotiated in 2015, but has never been signed yet.
