Jacques and Gabriella, mobilized at 5 and a half years for the planet

Last Saturday, we had seen them in Calvi in Corsica encouraging their mother Princess Charlene. She was going to embark on the crossing of the Mediterranean on a water bike, a charitable challenge that she experienced, among other participants, with one of her brothers, Gareth Wittstock. We found them at the arrival of this challenge at the Yacht Club de Monaco. Eight days later, this Saturday, September 19, 2020, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella were again in the spotlight. This time, however, they were no longer spectators but actors.

Jacques and Gabriella in particular picked up butts

Introducing his twins from an early age to current environmental challenges, Prince Albert II took them with him, while “World Clean Up Day” took place for the second year in his Principality. Photos posted on the Prince’s Palace Facebook account show the two children, aged 5 and a half, in jeans and white sneakers on their feet. Both wear T-shirts from the Town Hall of Monaco, flocked with the name of the operation on the back, red and burgundy for the little boy, pink and purple for his sister. Their faces protected by surgical masks like their father – because of the Covid-19 pandemic -, dark glasses on their nose and equipped with gloves, we discover them in particular putting on cigarette butts, which had been thrown on the ground, in plastic bottles.

In legend, the Monegasque Court specifies that the event was organized at the initiative of Sébastien Uscher of the association “Stand Up for the Planet” in partnership with the Monaco City Hall, Décathlon Monaco, the Government’s Energy Transition Mission Princely, the Monegasque Sanitation Company and the Eco-Angels (Stars’ N’Bars). It is specified that four clean-up actions have been carried out in the Principality and in the neighboring municipalities. And the volunteers spared no effort since they collected 210 kilos of garbage.
