Last Wednesday (23. Sept.2020), MPF-SP (Federal Public Ministry of São Paulo) launched 1 inquiry to investigate the owner of SBT, presenter Silvio Santos, on account of a sexual question asked by him to a 5-year-old child.
The information was initially disclosed by journalist Lauro Jardim, of the newspaper Or Balloon, who had access to the document.
The episode took place in 2016, during the “Get up” Silvio Santos Program, broadcast live by SBT.
“What do you think is best, sex, power or money”asked Silvio Santos to the girl, who was accompanied by her mother.
At the opening of the investigation, the MPF-SP stated that the rights to respect and dignity of children and adolescents must be respected.
“Children and adolescents have the right to respect and dignity as people in the process of development and as subjects of civil rights, the right to respect that includes the inviolability of psychological integrity, including image preservation”says the document.
“The free expression of thought is not an absolute right, and the right to reply, proportional to the grievance, in addition to compensation for material, moral or image damage, is guaranteed.”
According to the MPF-SP, upon being asked to comment on the case, the SBT reported that “The mother of the child filed a lawsuit for damages against the broadcaster in defense of individual and very personal interests”, is that “There was no diffuse undermining of the immanent children’s rights”.
THE Poder360 sought SBT to comment on the investigation. Until the publication of this report, there was no response.
