MEXICO CITY.- The health emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated humanity’s transition to the era of digital inclusion, “But with profound transformations that show the importance of telecommunications as a nervous system“, He said Carlos Slim Domit, Chairman of the Boards of Directors of Grupo Carso and América Móvil.
Slim Domit inaugurated the annual forum of the fellows of the Telmex Telcel Foundation, Mexico XXI century, which, for the first time, due to the health emergency, it was done virtually and from which he observed that there are times when the participation of all is required, without exception and without delay.
He commented that “through connectivity we have access to everything and everyone, at any time and from anywhere. Of the three transformations that humanity has undergone, this is the fastest and most universal, Y is generating very deep disruptions in all organizations and areas of activity, modifying the way we learn, work, communicate, interact and participate ”.
He assured that the above has been possible thanks to the fact that, despite the substantial increase in its use, there is a robust and efficient telecommunications infrastructure, which is due to the investments that have been made for so many years, to provide greater coverage, update to the latest technologies, expand capacity and increase access speed.
Slim Domit says that 2020 was an unprecedented year for the world
Regarding the pandemic, slim Doinit commented that the world lives an unprecedented year in which the impact has been reflected in health, the economy and employment, but which, in addition, the high degree of contagion and dispersal has pushed global health systems to the limit.
In this way, he referred to the concrete actions that the Carlos Slim Foundation has done to support the population. He specified that, for example, allocated one billion pesos in various health actions to support the population and medical personnel, strengthening the actions carried out in more than 50 hospitals.
Among other activities, he highlighted the donation of medical material such as ventilators and equipment for analysis of covid-19 tests, as well as the delivery of more than 270 thousand tests for the detection of patients, medicines and support to health personnel with more than one million 621 thousand different inputs.
He recalled that in Mexico City, and in combination with CIE, companies, Foundations, UNAM, the Salvador Zubirán National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition and the government of Mexico City, the Temporary Unit for Patient Care was created with covid-19 at the Citibanamex Center.
