Despite not releasing records since 2009, the Mexican group RBD, formed by the cast of the teen soap opera “Rebelde” (2004-06), continues with many fans around the world. And one of the requests of this huge fan club was for their music to be released on Spotify.

When that finally happened, last Thursday (3/9), the result exceeded expectations. The old RBD songs beat the current hits of the South Korean boy band BTS.

The playlist “This is RBD”, which brings together the group’s greatest hits, was signed by 175 thousand people in just one day, surpassing the 125 thousand that repeat over and over the tracks of the k-pop group.

In addition, in just 24 hours, the group occupied 39 positions in the Top 50 Viral of Brazil on Spotify. Universal Music also reported that the songs also appear on the chart of 15 countries in Latin America and eight tracks have entered the Top 200 Global streaming service, including the hits “Rebelde”, “Sólo Quédate Em Silencio” and “Nuestro Amor” .

In all, new RBD albums were made available on Spotify, including three discs on which the songs are sung in Portuguese.

Along with the arrival of the repertoire in music streaming, Universal also provided a channel dedicated to the group’s clips on YouTube, which even won the YouTube Silver Creator award for gathering more than 100,000 followers before launch.

Part of the members of the novelinha continued recording solo albums after the end of the group, such as Dulce Maria and Anahí. Alfonso Herrera, Maite Perroni, Christian Chavez and Christopher von Uckermann started to dedicate themselves only to acting, appearing prominently in Netflix productions.

Presented by Keke Palmer speaking of the Empire State Building in New York, VMA 2020 started last Sunday, the 30th, without a real audience - only with holograms and some isolated images of fans, in addition to recorded screams to remember at least a little normality - amid a pandemic caused by the new coronavirus. The presenter made a statement that this edition of the awards would be dedicated to actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away on August 28. The first performance of the night was by The Weeknd, who presented Blinding Lights on the top of a building. The show ended with a huge fireworks display above Manhattan.
