We are used to imagining the leopard as an infallible predator, very fast accurate and impossible to overcome in hunting. While the hyenas, on the contrary, would be only “scavengers” unable to hunt, useful animals not to waste anything of the prey hunted by others. Well, we are very wrong and now, finally, there is a video that proves it: a very rare video taken in the African savannah, with a leopard trying to steal its prey from a hyena.
Things get bad, at least at the beginning, for the hyena: the leopard attacks very quickly, with the sole aim of stealing the prey and then running away immediately, as fast as only such a cat can be. The hyena, however, resists. The leopard does not give up and sticks its prey on the ground with its claws, showing that it has no intention of letting it go.
The two animals are a few centimeters apart, claiming their prey by showing their canines and threatening each other with much, much determination. But it is not enough to make neither of them give up and a bloody fight arises.
