PARIS, Sep 21 (Reuters) – The European Central Bank (ECB) is watching the appreciation of the euro, the bank’s president, Christine Lagarde, said on Monday.
“The appreciation of the euro obviously has a role in different areas and as far as monetary policy is concerned, it exerts downward pressure on the price level,” Lagarde said, in response to questions during a public event.
“We are very attentive to the appreciation of the euro and we take it into account when determining our monetary policy,” he added.
