Sanihelp.it – Discover the wonders of fruit and vegetables. CREATE, play and learn: this is the title of the didactic notebook produced as part of the Accompanying Measures to the European Fruit and Vegetable Program in Schools for the academic year. 2020-2021, for teachers of schools participating in the Program and designed also taking into account the needs of pupils with dyslexia.
According to MIUR data, pupils suffering from SLD (Specific Learning Disorders, including dyslexia), went from 0.7 percent in 2010/2011 to 3.2 percent in 2017/2018.
CREA, in consideration of those who have these difficulties, has used a specific font in a food education notebook, created by Easyreading Multimedia (which prevents the perceptual exchange between letters similar in shape, thus giving greater breathing space to reading) designed for people with dyslexia, but facilitating for everyone.
This notebook was born from the collaboration of 4 CREA research centers (Olive growing, Fruit growing and Citrus growing, Horticulture and Horticulture, Defense and Certification, Food and Nutrition, which also coordinated the initiative) and constitutes a didactic support for food education, from use when the fruit and vegetables distributed by the Program arrive in the classroom and in all other curricular occasions.
The booklet contains brief insights into distributed vegetables, accompanied by recreational and educational activities on fruit, vegetables, legumes and aromatic plants, without forgetting the fight against waste.
The activities can be carried out in the classroom or at home, possibly with the involvement of family members, to guarantee greater educational effectiveness.
