The Federal Statistical Office said on Wednesday that Swiss railways transported 640 million passengers in 2019 against 612 million in 2018.
The services of the railways increased in 2019 in Switzerland, says the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). The number of passengers is also on the rise.
Swiss train services reached 21.7 billion person-kilometers – a unit of measurement that calculates the total distance traveled by all users – in 2019, i.e. 5.5% more than in 2018, specifies the OFS in a press release released on Wednesday. This is the largest increase recorded since the introduction of the revised public transport statistics in 2008.
The number of rail users is also on the rise: 640 million passengers transported in 2019 against 612 million in 2018.
