The journal launches an indicator on the composition of foundations in its new September issue. Find out which are the best to use for health and the environment.
Consumers are more and more demanding when it comes to the composition of their cosmetics, and brands have understood this. About that, 60 million consumers sorted it out to help you in your quest to face powder ideal, respectful to your health, but also to the environment. How? ‘Or’ What ? Thanks to his Cosméto’Score which unmasks them problematic substances in some cosmetics, but not only. It also calculates the overall risks to health and the environment, taking into account each ingredient, its quantity in the product and the use that is made of the latter. The Cosmeto’Score classifies the products in five different categories:

A : without reservation of use,
B : to be used in a reasoned manner,
C : to be used occasionally or in case of specific need,
D : use not recommended or use sparingly for specific needs,
E : strongly discouraged use, product containing too many problematic substances.
What are the best foundations for our health and the environment?
The foundation in cream can sometimes present a labeling defect: a “can contain” encompasses all dyes potentially present depending on the color. This is a considerable lack of precision, since the consumer does not know what he is actually going to apply to his skin. Among the problematic molecules, we can sometimes find: allergens, irritants as well as UV filters, sometimes suspected of being endocrine disruptors. Moreover, these are not sufficient to effectively protect the skin by themselves.
