The platform Free and Equal has launched this Sunday a “Long live the king” collective to defend the monarchy and show its “support for the great constitutional agreement that is in danger today.”
In a video published by the platform, 183 personalities from different fields, from the former president of the Government Mariano Rajoy to the Nobel Prize for Literature Mario Vargas Llosa, raise their voices in support of the monarch Felipe VI just one day after 12-O.
“Any veto to the King is a veto to the Constitution, to our coexistence”, has assured in a virtual press conference Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, spokesperson for Libres e Iguales. In this sense, the exporter of the PP has referred to the Constitution as a “pact between the different ones” and therefore “it will be defended and saved with a common pact.”
“They deserve to stand up for them”
The philosopher Fernando Savater, a member of Libres Iguales, who has also participated in the video and the press conference, stated that “at this time the country and the king himself deserve that intelligent people stand up for them.” In your opinion, “the constitutional system is harassed by a series of forces that want to destroy it” and therefore it is “necessary” and “fundamental” to say “long live the king.”
For his part, the playwright Albert Boadella, also a member of Libres e Iguales, considers that the phrase that 183 personalities have uttered in support of the monarchy are “three words that they try to show the concern of many citizens before the decline of our coexistence, of our freedoms “.
