Noting that the pandemic has increased the cases of mental illnesses in the population, the Secretary of Health in New Lion, Manuel de la O Cavazos, reported that so far in 2020 4,328 patients have been treated for this type of case.
On World Mental Health Day, the Secretary of Health took the opportunity to offer an overview of the diseases and the possibilities that exist in Nuevo León for patients to be cared for.
According to the figures presented by the Ministry of Health, of the more than 4 thousand patients who were treated in Nuevo León for mental conditions until September 30, anxiety and depression are the problems with the highest incidence, with 903 and 801, respectively.
The list continues with patients who have ideas and attempt suicide, with 432 cases so far in 2020, while 242 cases were presented due to family or relationship problems.

By last, 348 patients were treated for drug use, including alcoholic beverages, while for adaptive stress 190 people were attended.
This incidence of patients with mental disorders contrasts with the small number of psychiatrists in the country and Nuevo León, since there are only 309 accredited.
This figure puts Nuevo León with a rate of 6.04 specialists per 100 thousand inhabitants, and placing it in third place in the country, only below Mexico City, which has 1,849 accredited psychiatrists, and Jalisco, with 493.
