The little goats in the market
For more than twenty years, the La Case Bleue cheese dairy, created by Brigitte Viollet in 1995, has supplied the island with quality cheeses. 90% of its dairy products come from the region (nearly forty references), of which a third are goat cheese. The crottins named Fleur de Ré are delicately flavored with fleur de sel and are the success of tastings on the Bois-Plage market.
Shellfish and crustaceans
Charente-Maritime is certainly the land of Oysters, but also that of bouchot mussels. These are in milk chocolate, lightly coated with sugar, and filled with praline, feuillantine and fleur de sel. It is one of the specialties of the Ile de Ré Chocolats workshop, which has been making chocolates and caramels by hand since 1975 in Saint-Martin.
Want to change from the traditional Pineau des Charentes ? This artisanal pastis, matching the colors of the sea and the island’s sky, combines the traditional aromas of licorice and wild mint with those of Sichuan power. Surprising! He drinks very fresh, lying down with water and ice. The Pertuis Distillery also offers a more classic “yellow” version, inspired by egret egret.

Salt in all its forms
The fruit of centuries-old know-how, salt harvesting was the region’s economic lifeblood until the end of the 19th century. Faced with the decline in activity, the Sauniers of the Île de Ré have joined together in a cooperative and offer salt in all forms. The must: these small pebbles, the quantity of which is ideal for salting pasta water, a pot of soup or a sauce.
A little bit of softness
These jams natural resources were created in 1983 in Ars-en-Ré. Thirty-five years later, no less than sixty references (jams, fruit jellies, syrups, etc.) are handcrafted by Françoise Heraudeau and her son Bertrand. Classic or surprising fragrances, there is something for everyone!
