Camille Balanche became the first Swiss woman in history to win gold in a downhill world championship on Sunday.

In Leogang, Austria, in very difficult conditions (mud and rain), the 30-year-old Neuchâtelois won ahead of French Myriam Nicole (at 3”1) and Slovenian Monika Hrastnik (at 16”9) .

Former ice hockey player in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Camille Balanche brings Switzerland a seventh medal in these Worlds. Already European champion in 2019, the Locloise adds a nice line to her prize list.
