A 35 year old woman died, and two other people were seriously injured in an accident in Itabirito, Central Region of Minas Gerais, this Sunday morning (11). According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the crash involved two cars and a cargo truck.
Also according to the PRF, the event happened at Km 587 of BR-040, between the Celinha and Mirante da Serra restaurants. The highway that connects Brasília to Rio de Janeiro, passing through Minas Gerais, is totally closed on the spot, informs the police.
PRF teams are on site. THE track is slippery on the stretch. Wanted, the Fire Department reported that four vehicles and the helicopter moved to the site.
The firefighters also reported that two of the injured were treated by the concessionaire responsible for the stretch, Via 040. The other, the driver of one of the cars, was no longer at the scene when the corporation arrived.
The person who died went through a resuscitation process, but had a cardiopulmonary arrest and could not resist. The death was confirmed by the doctor of the fire helicopter.
Around 10:30 am this Sunday, the firemen reported that the accident happened after one of the cars ran on the track. There were strikes in sequence.
In this car, according to the corporation, there was only the driver. After causing the crash, the man hobbled away.
In the second vehicle were three people, including the one who died. The other two were seriously injured.
The truck driver suffered nothing, according to firefighters.
The PRF has already activated the work of the expert to start investigations into the fact. He also requested the presence of a hearse to rescue the body.
Concessionaire responsible for the stretch of highway, Via 040 clarified that the accident happened towards Distrito Federal. Around 9:50 am on Sunday, the congestion was already four kilometers.
