(ANSA) – TIRANA, 10 OCT – In Albania the use of masks becomes mandatory even outdoors. The new provision, in force next Thursday, will last until at least February 2021, and was announced today by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
“The state and municipal police will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the new ordinance”, said the premier, without specifying how much the fine will be for those wearing the mask. However, Rama warned that “there will be no tolerance. We cannot allow those who are not aware of the risk to return to stop activities, schools and businesses. The economy could not bear another closure “.
The authorities fear an increase in cases, with the arrival of seasonal viruses. Albania has a total of over 15 thousand infected, with about 160 cases a day in the last period. There are 413 victims, and over 5,300 cases still active. The number of hospitalized patients rose slightly to 239. (ANSA).
