Release was able to consult a note from the Yvelines territorial intelligence (RT78) written on October 12. It establishes a precise chronology of events since October 5, and the course held by Samuel Paty, during which the history teacher showed a caricature of Muhammad to students of 4e. The note claims the episode triggered “A lively controversy among some parents of Muslim faith, considering that it is a real offense”. The Yvelines RT then considers “Threats of sit-ins and demonstrations”, and transmits its observations to its central (SCRT), to the Yvelines branch of the General Directorate of Internal Security (DDSI), to the prefectures of Yvelines and Paris.
The document confirms that Samuel Paty previously asked the students “Who might be offended by this image, to close their eyes or to leave the classroom for a few seconds in the presence of a school assistant”. It is the presence, at this moment, of a companion of a student with a disability (AESH) that makes it possible to confirm the details of the scene. The next day, a mother “Contacted the principal in tears”, states the note from RT78, “Telling her that her daughter had been put aside in the hallway on the pretext that she was a Muslim”, and that she “Lived this situation as discrimination”. The head of the establishment then asks Samuel Paty to meet the mother at the end of the week, and to come back with the class concerned on her teaching. “controversial”, also inviting him to “Apologize if he had been awkward”. The person concerned is executed, the intelligence document states.
However, the tension does not fall. According to RT78, the head of establishment receives on October 7 “Anonymous protest messages, via the establishment’s mailbox”. One of them highlighted the climate of mistrust towards Muslims: “Faced with the current climate in France, where a climate of Islamophobia has taken hold, why do you seek to divide more from an early age?”
The principal then meets the father of the family and the preacher of the Cheikh-Yassine collective, Abdelhakim Sefrioui, currently in police custody after the dissemination of viral videos on social networks. Sefrioui qualifies Samuel Paty in particular as “Thug”. During the interview with the head of the establishment, they express their anger and refuse to meet Samuel Paty. The latter then asks, according to the note from RT78, “The intervention of the Secularism and Values of the Republic team [personnels d’accompagnement et de prévention de l’Académie, ndlr]». In addition, the arrival of an inspector is scheduled on October 9 at 1:45 p.m., in order to “To accompany the principal during an interview with the professor, in particular to remind her of the rules of secularism and neutrality”. In addition, the document continues, “This made it possible to prepare the scheduled meeting between the teacher, the principal then the parents of the pupils”.
Despite the dissemination of videos that animated social networks, the RT78 note concludes: “Communication between management and the families has visibly eased tensions, which are mainly due to the C family. [le père actuellement en garde à vue, ndlr]. Note that for the time being, the leaders of the local Muslim community are not manifested. […] Within the college, no major tension is palpable, both on the side of the educational community and of the parents’ federation which, while recognizing a certain clumsiness of the teacher (well appreciated by his hierarchy), does not disavow it. not for all that “
