Apple Inc. pfeatured his latest variety of iPhone, a line of products that Wall Street awaits start a new cycle of sales growth for the world’s largest technology company.

At a virtual event on Tuesday, the company showed iPhone 12 in black, red, blue, green and white with a 6.1-inch screen. Its starting price is US $ 799.

The front of the phones looks like last year’s iPhone 11, but the aluminum edges are now flat instead of curved. It supports 5G, a new wireless standard that can transmit data up to 10 times faster than current 4G LTE technology.

An iPhone 12 mini, starting at $ 699, was also featured with a 5.4-inch screen, along with an iPhone 12 Pro with stainless steel bezels. The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch screen, Apple’s largest. Colors for the Pro are Pacific Blue, Gold, Graphite, and Silver.

The phones also have a faster A14 processor and updated cameras, and use sharper OLED screens, an improvement over last year’s cheaper LCD screens, Apple said. Apple said that the new Bionic A14 processor is 50% faster than the A13 chip in the iPhone 11 line.

The Cupertino, California-based tech giant generated relatively small sales growth building on its important product in recent years, as consumers keep their phones for longer. Quarterly revenue for this segment peaked in Apple’s first quarter of fiscal 2018.

This year’s crop of new iPhones marks the first major redesign in three years, which could lead to further updates and new growth. Investors and analysts are also optimistic about sales in China, where 5G networks are more developed than in the US.

IPhone 12 features an updated camera system with improved low-light performance, faster apertures, and upgrades for computational photography. The new phones also support a new magnetic version of wireless charging called MagSafe.

5G capabilities make phones are theoretically capable of downloading data much faster, although that will mainly depend on the wireless operators updating their networks. Apple’s 5G launch comes more than a year after Samsung Electronics Co. and other rivals began selling phones that are compatible with the standard.

Apple said it tested 5G globally with 100 carriers. He added that the American models will support the fastest millimeter wave technology. Verizon Communications Inc. CEO Hans Vestberg joined the event to announce nationwide 5G coverage in the US and an expansion of its faster ultra-broadband 5G service in multiple cities.

In the first quarter of this year, phone makers led by Samsung shipped 3.4 million 5G phones to the US, a fraction of the overall market, according to data from Strategy Analytics. In some other countries, 5G has performed much better. A third of phone sales in China during the second quarter were 5G phones, according to Counterpoint Research.
