Customers will have the choice between two engines of 381 and 462 horsepower.

Do you want to acquire a Q8 but the penalty claimed by the State has cooled you off a little? Audi found the parade by presenting two plug-in hybrid versions which, on paper, are a beautiful illusion with the legislator, in particular thanks to consumption and emissions contained according to the WLTP certification cycle supposed to approach real conditions of use.

The Q8 uses the same system as the A8, namely a 3.0-liter TFSI petrol V6 developing 340 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. The electrical part is entrusted to a synchronous motor with permanent magnets of 128 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque integrated into the Tiptronic eight-speed automatic transmission. In cumulative power, the Audi Q8 60 TFSI e quattro claims 462 horses and 700 Nm de couple.

Audi also offers a second version, namely the 55 TFSI e quattro model which uses the same mechanics but with a power of 381 horses and 600 Nm. If the 60 TFSI version claims 5.4 seconds for 0 to 100 km / h, the Q8 55 TFSI will put 0.4 seconds more on this exercise. In both cases, the maximum speed is 240 km / h. Electric propulsion is provided up to 135 km / h.

Both models have the same lithium-ion battery, housed under the trunk, the capacity of which is advertised at 17,8 kWh, or a little better than that of Q7 plug-in hybrid. The electric range is announced at 45 kilometers for the 60 TFSI and 47 kilometers for the 55 version. CO approval2 is extremely favorable for these SUVs of more than 2.5 tons since the emissions are announced below the 70 g / km bar.

The two models are therefore not affected by the ecological penalty in France. On the other hand, if the penalty indexed to the weight of the cars were to appear, the Q8 plug-in hybrid should be heavily penalized.

The Audi Q8 55 and 60 TFSI e quattro will be marketed in the network by next November. The prices have not yet been indicated by the German brand in France but if we refer to those already used on the Q7 plug-in hybrid, it will be necessary to count, at least, 82’000 euros for the “smallest” version.
