With the measure, they are suspended in these areas “Any activities capable of producing a potential risk of generating new fires”. The mobilization of all state agencies to act in collaboration with the Civil Defense, the Fire Department and other environmental protection entities is authorized.
The fires affect several Bahian cities, mainly those located in the west of the State and in the Chapada Diamantina region.
Governor Rui Costa (PT) visited the municipality of Itaberaba, in the Chapada region, on Friday. He said he is permanently monitoring the operation. “Unfortunately, the sun and the drought, sometimes also with recklessness and sometimes with people’s bad faith, end up causing these fires”, he declared.
