The Barcelona City Council has promoted a third package of aid to the cultural fabric, educative and scientist of the cityentity endowed with 6.2 million euros, which has been presented by the Deputy Mayor Joan Subirats. Of the eight measures announced, the most striking are some 225 scholarships that will exceptionally replace the 18 City of Barcelona Awards that were delivered every year.
These scholarships Premis Barcelona will have an endowment that will range between 6,000 (support for creation) and 10,000 euros (projects), they will be convened before the end of the year so that they can be developed in 2021. The intention is to favor creative projects in the fields of culture, research and education in the most precarious sectors. In total, 3 million euros are allocated for scholarships in 15 different modalities, ranging from literary creation to educational activities in museums, community actions or popular culture.
The most important endowment (1.2 million) is for the Scientific Research Awards to Reptes Urbans, aimed at young members of the scientific community under the age of 40. This call is now open and closes on November 9. Another 100,000 euros are for 10 scholarships for projects on art and science and 120,000 for scholarships for scientific dissemination.

For the promotion of the visual arts, 600,000 euros are allocated to the purchase of artistic work that will be managed through Macba, where they will be deposited. A jury must select the pieces before the end of the year. And another 350,000 euros are for aid to the musical creation of young composers.
The package of measures also includes 825,000 euros for the purchase of tablets for the Consorci d’Educació and the library network; 172,000 euros to reinforce the digital technology of cultural facilities, and 1 million to reinforce the reception service of Escoles bressol.
