The 40-year-old brigadier was hospitalized with a “vital prognosis”, police sources told AFP. He suffers from a broken leg and a head trauma.

The facts occurred around 1:30 am in Savigny-sur-Orge. A crew from the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) approached to check the car, a “stolen” Peugeot, the sources added. But the driver restarted and knocked over the official.

This “very experienced” brigadier has “twenty years of police in the department, all in the night Bac,” said one of these sources.

The driver, who was identified by police, is on the run. During the check, “there were three individuals on foot around the vehicle” who also fled without being arrested, according to a police source.

“All means are being implemented to find the author”, wrote on Twitter the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin, bringing his “support” to the injured official.

The Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti also testified his “total support to the police forces and their close relations”. “Lawyer I defended police officers touched in their flesh and families revolted by these unacceptable situations”, he wrote on Twitter, “the Department of Justice will always be at their side”.

“Once again, one of our colleagues was savagely assaulted by an individual who rushed on him,” for his part denounced to AFP Frédéric Lagache, general delegate of Alliance.

The union called for a rally of support outside the Juvisy police station at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

“Once again, one too many times, that’s enough”, also declared Frédéric de Oliveira, regional secretary of the Unity-SGP union. There is “mistrust of the state and it is the police who pay,” he added.

In a statement, Alternative-Police demanded a “firm and irreducible criminal response against all those who attack a representative of state authority”.

These facts arise in a context of police malaise after the fireworks mortar attack at the Champigny-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) police station last weekend and the bulletproof attack on two police officers in Herblay ( Val-d’Oise) last week.

The police unions were gathered Tuesday evening by videoconference by the Minister of the Interior, who detailed several measures to improve their working conditions, including the creation of a night bonus for “night people”, the 22,000 police officers working nights, and career development measures.

Thursday, the unions must this time be received by the head of state. A meeting that they have been demanding for a long time and where, according to the ministry, their “protection” must be mentioned.

“We cannot accept that every day we count more than 18 wounded among the police. All this must stop,” continued Frédéric Lagache, calling for “concrete” announcements from the president. “Otherwise fear risks contaminating the government,” he said.
