AIR TRANSPORTATION – A commercial plane that will connect Paris and Montreal in 3 h 45 and which could reach Mach 2.2 A supersonic jet to succeed the Concorde ? It is the project of the company Boom Supersonic which unveiled Wednesday, October 7 the prototype of its plane, called XB-1. As detailed Air-Journal, the aircraft could eventually carry between 65 and 88 passengers and make the connection Paris-Montréal in 3:45. The jet would connect New York to London at 3:30 am, Los Angeles and Sydney in 6:45 am and Tokyo and Seattle in 4:30 am.
The aircraft presented this week is 21.6 meters long and has a wingspan of 6.4 meters. XB-1 should be able to reach a speed of Mach 1.3 thanks to three GE J85-15 engines. For now, this prototype can only accommodate the pilot.
Congrats to @boomaero on the rollout of its prototype for supersonic travel! The Presidential and Executive Airlift Directorate is proud to be a part of this venture and looks forward to continued exploration of ways to leverage supersonic aircraft for AF executive transport. pic.twitter.com/Tt45eWvoAc

$ 200 million by plane
The final plane, which should be called Overture, could fly up to Mach 2.2, over the oceans. It should benefit from Rolls Royce engines. Each unit will be marketed at a price of $ 200 million. Bomm Supersonic has already registered around thirty pre-orders, notably from Virgin Group and Japan Airlines.
The first tests of the supersonic are scheduled for next year, first on the ground, and the Boom company hopes to enter service by 2030.
