When I put test the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4Matic + 4-door Coupé the last thing I thought is that it needed more power. After all, its 639 hp and surprising capacity make it one of the fastest sedans on the planet. But it is clear that there are always those who want more and luckily for them there are preparers like Brabus. The Germans have taken advantage of this super sedan to create the monumental new Brabus Rocket 900 ‘One of ten’.
A real rocket to enjoy with up to four companions. As you can deduce from its name, the Brabus Rocket 900 ‘One of ten’ is limited to 10 units and offers a maximum power of 900 CV. An impressive figure, no doubt, but perhaps its maximum torque figure is even more incredible: 1.250 Nm. Of course, the nine-speed automatic transmission would disintegrate before such amount of torque, so they have had to electronically limit that data to an equally impressive 1,050 Nm.
With this performance data and the effectiveness of the 4Matic + all-wheel drive system, the acceleration capacity is overwhelming. Can go from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.8 seconds and reaches a self-limited top speed of 330 km / h to ensure the integrity of the tires. To give you an idea of its devastating ability to accelerate, another fact: the 0 to 300 km / h does it in 23.9 seconds. Come on, like a real supercar.
A very special engine for the Brabus Rocket 900 ‘One of ten’
The entry-level model is equipped with AMG’s fantastic 4.0 V8 biturbo engine as standard. But for the occasion, the guys from Brabus have modified it from top to bottom: they have increased displacement to 4.5 litersThey have installed an optimized set of turbos, a new exhaust system or adjusted electronics, among many other things. Thus, they have managed to go from 639 to 900 hp and from 900 to 1,250 Nm.
But like any Brabus product that bears the tag ‘Rocket’ in the name, it has changes to the exterior and interior. On the outside, we find an aggressive carbon fiber aerodynamic kit developed in the wind tunnel to improve support. It includes a new grille, much more aggressive bumpers, a generous rear diffuser, a spoiler on the boot lid or some widened wheel arches.
The latter are necessary to be able to accommodate the Monoblock Z rims that are fitted as standard on the Brabus Rocket 900 ‘One of ten’. These are 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear, are shod with Pirelli tires and hide a set of ceramic brakes with calipers the Brabus logo. And as for the cabin, there are new upholstery, logos, floor mats or a personalized dashboard.
And we still have to talk about precio del Brabus Rocket 900 ‘One of ten’. Given the changes introduced, we cannot expect an accessible figure for any pocket. Especially since the base model already costs a fortune (from 198,700 euros in Spain). Brabus has announced a unit like the one you see in the photos, finished in the exclusive color ‘Stealth Gray’, for the astronomical figure of 495.621 euros, taxes included. That is, about 300,000 euros more than the starting car costs.
