The victim worked as a carer in a local facility for people with intellectual disabilities or mental illness and was in her office at the time of the crime. According to the current status of the investigation, there is an urgent suspicion that the injured party was visited by a 44-year-old man who is looked after and also works in this facility. During the conversation, the man is said to have suddenly taken out a knife around 9.45 a.m. and stabbed the supervisor. She suffered severe injuries, which she later succumbed to in the hospital. The suspect fled on foot. The police immediately initiated a large-scale manhunt for the 44-year-old, in which more than ten patrol crews and other police forces were involved. The suspect was identified and arrested by a patrol crew shortly after 10 a.m. in the area of ​​the sports field in Brunnenweg. The background to the act is so far unclear. The criminal police started the investigation in close consultation with the public prosecutor’s office. The public prosecutor’s office will apply to the competent court for a placement order. The accused will be brought before the responsible investigating judge tomorrow (October 15, 2020).
