There was a corona outbreak in a hospital in Upper Bavaria. Several patients and employees are infected. Now 600 people also have to be quarantined.
There are so many in Germany right now CoronaCases like never before. On Wednesday (as of October 28), the Robert Koch Institute reported 14,964 new infected people. New outbreaks are reported every day across Germany – now, of all places, several people have tested positive for the corona virus in a hospital.
Corona outbreak in the hospital
So far, 38 employees and 17 patients have been infected at the Schongau Hospital in Upper Bavaria. Now the clinic has to implement strict measures: A total of 600 employees are currently in quarantine, as reported by BR24, among others.
In addition, the hospital has declared a visit and admission freeze. There are currently around 90 patients in the clinic who would not be transferred. In order to ensure that the supply can still be secured, a special quarantine currently applies to the 600 employees of the hospital: Those who test negative are allowed to leave home – but only to go to work. After the shift, the workers must immediately return to domestic isolation. Contact with family members should also be avoided. The quarantine regulation currently applies for 14 days.
There are also strict measures for patients: Anyone discharged from Schongau Hospital must also go into quarantine. The Covid-19 patients are currently said to be in an isolation ward.
Cause of infection unclear
The tricky thing: the hospital has not yet been able to explain the chain of infection. Employees assume a so-called super-spreader among the patients.
Now it is to be hoped that no more people in the hospital will be infected with the corona virus. Only after three consecutive negative test results could the clinic resume normal operations after 14 days at the beginning of November. Until then, the entire hospital is in a state of emergency.
