The sculpture “Ageless Love” by Delphine de Saxe-Cobourg was unveiled on Saturday in the town of Saint-Nicolas. This is the artist’s first public appearance since receiving her title of princess. “But I remain what I am,” she says.
The monumental work of art was made of steel. A symbol, explains the artist. “It’s hard to break, just like love. And just like love, it also ages beautifully. It patina nicely, just like people wrinkle.”
Delphine de Saxe-Cobourg shied away from her recent rapprochement with the royal family. She read that her biological father, King Albert II, wishes her good luck, she says. The meeting with her brother, King Philippe, was, according to her, comforting. “I’m feeling accepted little by little,” she said. “I feel loved and this is going in the right direction. I hope there will be more.”
“I will always be Delphine”, insisted the artist. “My soul remains that of an artist”, she concludes.
