Despite a 5% drop in sales over the first three quarters of 2020 compared to 2019, Porsche is holding up well.

During the first three quarters of the year, marred of course by the pandemic, Porsche delivered 191,547 vehicles around the world, a decrease of 5% compared to 2020 when the Stuttgart firm had delivered 202,318 units over the same period.

China is still the brand’s first market with 62,823 units sold over this period, a decrease of only 2% compared to 2019 (64,237 sales). Europe remains a safe bet for Porsche, despite a 9% drop in sales and 55,483 vehicles delivered. The German market suffered a lot with a drop of 23% and 17,462 deliveries against 22,705 between January and September 2019. The American market also fell sharply with a significant decrease in sales and 39,734 vehicles delivered compared to 45,062 in 2019.

“Porsche shows resilience in the face of the Coronavirus crisis”, explains Detlev von Platen, member of the Sales and Marketing Department of Porsche AG. “The Chinese market recovered quickly from the containment, and demand in other markets is also showing signs of rebounding, which has contributed to these results. The French market follows the global trend with a drop of 5.5% compared to last year. Again it is the Cayenne which remains the best-selling model with 1,473 units sold (979 Cayenne coupés and 494 Cayenne classic), 433 Macan, 423 Porsche 911, 297 Taycan, 163 Panamera, 117 Porsche 718 Boxster and 91 Cayman.
