According to unofficial results in the second round of the Presidential elections in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, the candidate of the National Unity Party (UBP), was elected President.
Ersin Tatar, who received the highest vote in the first round of the TRNC Presidential election, competed with Mustafa Akıncı in the second round. The voting process started at 08.00 and ended at 18.00.
After the counting of votes ended in 738 ballot boxes, according to unofficial results, Ersin Tatar, the candidate of the National Unity Party (UBP), won 51.74 percent of the votes and won the election.
Independent candidate Mustafa Akıncı received 48.26 percent of the votes. While 133 thousand 953 of 199 thousand 29 thousand voters went to the ballot box, the voting rate was 67.30 percent.
On the other hand, the first round of elections with 11 candidates, held last week, made history with the lowest turnout percentage.
