The French driver clinched a ninth pole position in the premier class after qualifying for the French Grand Prix on Saturday.
Fabio Quartararo will start from pole position for the French MotoGP Grand Prix on Sunday, after finishing ahead of Jack Miller and Danilo Petrucci in qualifying on Saturday.
The Frenchman, currently leading the world championship, beat the Australian in the dying seconds of the qualifying session and will therefore be ahead on his Yamaha, two Ducatis that were not expected at such a party.
His closest rival in the world championship, Spaniard Joan Mir, failed to qualify for Q2 and will start far on the grid in 14th position.
“The conditions were tough and it took me a while to warm up the front tire. It had been a long time since I started on pole, ”said Quartararo, who felt he had the pace to win on Sunday.
This is the 9th pole of the young Frenchman’s career in MotoGP, aged 21, and the first since the Andalusian GP at the end of July.
