Father Gilmar, 46, from Santa Teresinha Parish in João Pessoa (PB), has been missing since 11:30 am on Tuesday (13). According to the vicar general of the Archdiocese of Paraíba, Luís Júnior, the parish priest left to accompany a funeral, but he would not have arrived at the place. The information is from G1.
Also according to Luís Júnior’s report, at 12:15 pm Father Gilmar sent a message with the word “help”. However, he didn’t see the message until 3pm. Since then, friends have mobilized to look for the priest, who has not been located.
According to the Civil Police, a police report was registered with the Homicide Police in João Pessoa. Authorities are conducting searches for the victim, trying to trace the cell phone. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), a car similar to the one the parish priest was driving around BR-101 around 12:00, with direction to Recife.
Images from security cameras are being analyzed to confirm that the vehicle was actually the parish vehicle. Teams from Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco have also been called. Padre Gilmar is from the state of São Paulo and went to Paraíba in January.
