The Spanish airline Iberia announced on Wednesday that it will offer its customers preferential rates to undergo a covid-19 test before the flight, at a time when more and more countries are asking visitors for a negative test.

Iberia “has signed an agreement with [la cadena de clínicas privadas] Quirónprevention so that customers who need it can carry out these tests with special prices, “the company said in a statement.

This agreement, for passengers who have booked a flight with Iberia, “facilitates the procedures for those who fly to all those destinations where it is required to present a certificate of the PCR test carried out a few hours or days before the arrival date,” said the note. .

Passengers will be able to make an appointment at one of the Quironprevencion laboratories to undergo a PCR or antigen test, and will receive “an official certificate valid for international travel.”

The price of this PCR test, the result of which is obtained within 48 to 72 hours, will be “20 percent less than the market price,” Iberia said.

A test of this type costs in a private laboratory in Spain between 130 and 240 euros, according to the OCU consumer association.

Access to tests and a quick result is becoming a challenge for airlines, already hard hit by the pandemic.

The International Air Transport Association (Iata), which estimates the fall in air traffic so far this year at 70%, has asked for a system that allows rapid diagnosis of all passengers.
