It’s almost as long as reading a Harry Potter.
The user manual is probably very neglected by motorists. This is not a simple remark, because according to a study conducted by “Bristol Street Motors” in the United Kingdom of 350 people, 60% of respondents and vehicle owners did not bother to read the guide to using their car. Even before getting behind the wheel for the first time.
Only 37% of them consult the instructions for use whenever problems arise, the majority preferring the help of the Internet (YouTube) and their friends. It’s not really a surprise.
This is not the only interesting part of the Bristol Street Motors study. According to the car sales website, car manuals are painfully long to read, and it is not that of theAudi A3 which will change the situation since with 167’699 words, it would be necessary 11 hours and 45 minutes to read it in full.
It’s as long to read as JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (11 hours and 50 minutes) and JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (10 hours and 56 minutes). It’s no wonder owners don’t even bother to check out these helpful materials when it comes to getting started.
The shortest owner’s manual on Bristol Street Motors’ list is the Vauxhall Zafira, with 37,147 words, it will only take 2 hours and 36 minutes to complete. The Fiat 500 comes second with 2 hours and 47 minutes.
It’s not that bad, but keep in mind that the announced reading time does not take breaks into account, you have to read nonstop! It’s doable for the Zafira and Fiat 500, but can you imagine spending a good chunk of your day reading the one for the A3?
