Strongly affected by the increase in coronavirus infections, the canton of Schwyz in turn introduced an obligation to wear a mask in certain cases. It comes into force on Friday for all public or private events bringing together more than 50 people.
According to the new Schwyz ordinance published on Tuesday, wearing a mask will also be compulsory when the minimum distance cannot be guaranteed during public and private events bringing together less than 50 people. This obligation will also apply to restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shops, post offices, cinemas and churches, if the distance is insufficient.
The Schwyz government is waiving for the moment a general obligation to wear a mask in stores. No increase in the number of infections linked to their frequentation has been observed, invokes the executive. So far, eleven cantons have introduced such an obligation, including Zug, neighboring canton of Schwyz.
On Tuesday morning, the Schwyz authorities deplored 34 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Rural canton of central Switzerland, Schwyz has become the most affected in the country on a weekly average of cases of infections, in proportion to the number of inhabitants.
