(Reuters) – Luis Muriel scored twice in the first half to give Atalanta the 2-1 lead over Crotone this Saturday and put it back on track for Italian league victories after defeats in the previous two games.
Atalanta, who came in second with 12 points from six matches, dominated the game but made life difficult for himself by wasting many chances against his modest rival.
Muriel missed two opportunities before putting Atalanta ahead 26 minutes after Ruslan Malinovskyi’s pass.
The Colombian scored again in the 38th minute, hitting a shot close to the post, completing a move started by Remo Freuler.
Crotone, last on the table with a point, responded two minutes later, when Simy scored from a low angle.
