The pandemic has raised “to at least six million the number of families” at risk of usury due to over-indebtedness or “in precarious balance between disposable income and ‘ordinary’ debts”. This was revealed by the updated estimates of the National Anti-usury Council, following which the Secretary General of the CEI, Monsignor Stefano Russo, sounded the alarm: “The shock of the disease has increased the emergency of families in financial distress”.
