Spain, Pet Therapy with donkeys for doctors stressed by Covid

Length: 00:56

Milan, Oct 16 (askanews) – The “El Burrito Feliz” association counts 23 donkeys who have already helped Alzheimer’s patients or children with disorders in a bucolic setting, at the gates of the Donana National Park, in Andalusia. But now that Covid 19 affects everyone’s lives, they can come to the aid with free and specially dedicated therapy sessions with donkeys for nurses, exhausted and stressed by the fight against the pandemic. Launched at the end of June, the “Donkey Doctor” project aims to help caregivers traumatized by the battle against the virus that has killed more than 33,000 people in Spain and infected nearly a million people. Best known with horses, therapy involving animals is used to treat stress, depression and anxiety, among others.
