That she is beautiful !

McLaren is enjoying great success with its recent Ultimate Series models, whether it’s the Senna/ Senna GTR or the Speedtail. The same cannot be said for the Elva, as this windowless car suffers from bad timing when it hits the market in the middle of a pandemic. The 1% are less likely to shell out at least $ 1.7 million for the speedster, which prompted McLaren to cut production from 399 to 249, then to just 149 units.

Woking officials have tried on several occasions to inject more dynamism into the Elva by developing all manner of liveries, and the latest one just might be the best. Celebrating McLaren’s new bond with the Gulf Oil brand, the roofless Ultimate Series model carries a retro theme developed by MSO. Moreover, from now on, customers will be able to order McLarens in Gulf colors directly from the factory through the MSO division.

This theme dates back to the initial partnership in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when Can-Am, Formula 1, and Indy cars wore this pretty livery. In the 1990s we saw the iconic F1 GTR racing at Le Mans with a Gulf look, while in recent years we have seen a production 675LT and Lanzante P1 GTR dressed in this livery to wow audiences.

This Elva is celebrating its world premiere at Goodwood SpeedWeek, which due to the outbreak of coronavirus, was turned into a live, closed-door show. McLaren says its MSO division is in advanced talks with other customers “to create more spectacular paints and liveries.”

Although production has been reduced not once but twice, there are still cars to be seized. This car of more than 800 hp plays in an elite league, that of the speedsters. There are others like the Ferrari Monza SP1/SP2 and the Bentley Bacalar, without forgetting the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 Speedster reserved for the track.
