Fortunately, the artificial sound can be deactivated …

You probably did not miss it, the Cupra Leon is marketed in different versions. Among them is the plug-in hybrid that the Automann-TV YouTube channel tested in its last video. The sports car is equipped with a thermal engine (1.5 liters) and an electric unit which deliver a total of 245 hp for 400 Nm of torque. It is an identical engine to the Skoda Octavia RS iV that we tried recently.

While waiting to get behind the wheel of the Cupra Leon at the end of the month, Automann-TV invites us to see the performance of the Spaniard on the German Autobahn. Apart from the fact that the sound that we hear is purely fictitious since it is emitted by the loudspeakers, the dynamic qualities seem barely correct.

According to the data collected by the channel, 0 to 100 km / h is achieved in 6.5 seconds, the 0 to 200 km / h in 25.3 seconds and the 100 to 200 km / h in 18.5 seconds. Surprisingly, it seems that the car is often out of breath. The driver is forced to ease off for a moment before crushing the accelerator to regain some electrical power.

Cupra had the good idea not to bury the 100% thermal version of his Leon. It will be marketed alongside the plug-in hybrid, and it looks more promising. It features the 2.0-liter engine which develops 245 hp or 300 hp. Thrill seekers should opt for the second, even if it means paying a high price penalty.
