The restrictions to contain the spread of the coronavirus in Catalonia continue to rise. As you may have learned The vanguard, The Government is studying to announce this Wednesday morning the closure of bars and restaurants until the end of October, although the decision has not yet been made.

The Catalan Executive will put the measure on the table with the objective that it is approved by the Procicat, although sources from the regional government have explained that it is not yet completely closed pending a meeting with the sector that also has to be held this Wednesday. In this sense, sources from the Gremi de Restauració have claimed to be unaware of the proposal.

If approved, the measure would be added to the one that has transpired this Tuesday to suspend sports competitions for fifteen days. In addition, it has also been agreed with the university cloisters to teach telematics classes until the end of October.

Catalonia has registered 1,280 new cases this Tuesday

The Government calculated this Monday the increase in cases expected for next week at 30%, as reported in its meeting with employers and unions. The multiplied extension of the virus is reflected in the figures of all the surrounding countries, but in Catalonia in particular they began a rise a week and a half ago and since last Thursday it is much higher than expected.

Catalonia has registered 1,280 new cases this Tuesday, raising the total number of infections to 187,574 confirmed. In addition, as confirmed by the Ministry of Health of the Generalitat, 14 people have died in the last 24 hours, leaving the total figure at 13,513 since the start of the pandemic.
