The kings preside this October 12 at the Royal Palace on sole act of celebration of National Holiday, a reduced commemoration of the pandemic by the coronavirus which will be attended by the full Government and representatives of all the powers of the State. To avoid crowds, the traditional military parade in Madrid and the subsequent reception of the kings at the Royal Palace have been suspended. It is the Plaza de la Armería of this enclosure that hosts this commemorative act with a small land parade and in which it is intended to pay tribute to all those who are fighting against the Covid-19.

Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía will be accompanied by the president, Pedro Sánchez, and all the members of the Executive, including the second vice president, Pablo Iglesias, who had never attended this celebration. Will be the first time the monarch will coincide with Iglesias after the controversy over the absence of the king at the request of the Government of the act of delivery of offices to the new judges held in Barcelona and the later criticism of the vice president of the monarch.

The act will also allow the coincidence of Sánchez with the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida. They will meet for the first time after the Government will decree the state of alarm in Madrid to face the pandemic and against the will of the Madrid Executive.
