Arias was injured early in the game.

A terrible event shook the Selection of Colombia at the start of the qualifiers heading to Qatar 2022, the right-back Santiago Arias injured the ankle of his left leg.

The Bayer Leverkusen player left the field at seven minutes, so far a medical report from the Colombian Football Federation has not been released on the severity of the injury, but it is estimated that the recovery will take between four and six months .

After the incident, Santiago Arias posted a heartfelt message about the injury on his Instagram account.

“I have no words to describe how I feel, I am going to lie when I say that I feel good, but I cannot tell you otherwise, I am sad about the situation. Nobody wants to go through one of these things, least of all a footballer, it is the last thing they want, my dream is to play and my happiness is to bring joy to everyone on the field. […] Only God is in control of what happens in our lives. My heart hurts more than my foot, but I am calm, and with a lot of faith that everything will be better ”.

Well this time I can’t be as short as ever. Infinite thanks for everyone’s support. It is too comforting to know that an entire country and many more people in the world are sending me all their support and good wishes. I have no words to describe what I feel, I’m going to lie when I say that I feel good, but I can’t tell you otherwise, I’m sad about the situation, Nobody wants to go through one of these things, and less a footballer, it’s the last wants, my dream is to play and my happiness is to bring joy to everyone on the court. But hey, this is one more test to overcome and become stronger and value what I do even more. I thank God that it could have been worse, I only hope now that with your help (God’s), my desire, my faith, the company of my family and your prayers, the recovery will be faster and I can return soon to the courts! Only God is in control of what happens in our lives. My heart hurts more than my foot, but I am calm, and with a lot of faith that everything will be better. I will continue with the same enthusiasm with which I went out to play yesterday, to support my team in these qualifying rounds, my support, my teammates, coaching staff and the whole country will always have it. Once again I want to thank each one of you for accompanying me in this situation, I promise you that I will work hard to return soon and stronger to wear the colors of Colombia and my club, Bayer Leverkusen. The footballer’s teammates could not believe what happened and dedicated the 3-0 victory against Venezuela.

“Arias’s injury was a difficult moment. The team gave a great show of solidarity for Santiago by playing a good game. I know that this victory will give him encouragement for his recovery, ”said Luis Fernando Muriel, who scored two goals in that match.

For his part, the footballer’s wife also sent a message of encouragement for Arias.

“My love, my heart hurts from not being able to be there with you, your physical pain hurts, but the pain your heart feels hurts me more. The illusion you had to play with the national team again was great

You are a giant my love, I admire you more than ever, I pray to God that it is not too serious, and that in a very short time you will be on the courts with all those strength that you are going to have ”, wrote the model Karin Jiménez.
