AGI – France is facing a “second strong wave” of the Covid-19 pandemic; in the last 24 hours there were 96 deaths while the rate of positive results of the tests carried out reached 17% in the Ile de France, the region of the capital Paris.

On Wednesday evening, President Emmanuel Macron will speak on the TV channels Tf1 and France 2.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Jean Castex has not ruled out new closures at the local level and has recommended increasing attention to address the “second strong wave” of the virus. “There can be no relaxation,” he added. The data of new infections was today lower than the records of the previous days, over 8 thousand cases against over 20 thousand on Friday and almost 27 thousand on Saturday, but what worrying is the rise in deaths and hospital admissions.

In the Paris region, the share of 42% of the resuscitation places occupied has been exceeded, and this will require, as happened during the acute phase of the first wave, to postpone planned interventions to treat other pathologies. With Toulouse and Montpellier being added today, there are now 9 cities in France considered to be areas of maximum alert. (AGI)
